AWANA

Awana is an international, non-denominational, Bible-centered youth organization providing weekly clubs and programs for three-year-olds through high schoolers. The acronym Awana comes from the first letters of the phrase "Approved workmen are not ashamed" (2 Timothy 2:15).

The year 2005 marked the 20th anniversary of Awana clubs at Overland Hills Church.

In the course of two years, pre-schoolers will learn approximately 55 memory verses and key basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible. They will also be presented with the gospel message and their need to trust Christ as Savior.

Sparks

For boys and girls in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade. The aim of the curriculum is to take youngsters a step deeper into God’s Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ.

In three years, a child will learn and review 68 verses, many of which cover salvation and key Christian doctrine.

Truth & Training (TnT)

For kids in 3rd through 6th grade.  Truth & Training is an evangelistic and discipleship program that teaches Scripture memory, basic Bible truths and real-life application within the physical, intellectutal, emotional and spiritual parameters of the 8 through 12 year old child.

In the course of four years, a child will learn and review about 310 verses.

Youth

The Junior High and Senior High Awana clubs have been consolidated into Awana Team Ministries at Overland Hills Church.

ATM ministers to teens where they are in life, and encourages them to grow into the next level:

  • Come See - geared for teens marginally interested in Christianity.  It presents Biblical answers to real-life issues.
  • Come Follow - intended for teens that want to do the right thing but aren't always motivated to act on that desire.
  • Come Serve - aimed to highly motivated Christian teens that want to impact their world for Christ.
