The Vision of Josh Huntoon, Youth Pastor |
I believe that the youth of today are not only the future of the church, but are a major part of the church today. |
|||||
I have seen students change their lives and the lives of their friends for eternity. My prayer is that the youth group at Overland Hills Church will continue to impact the community for Jesus Christ. |

A strong youth group just may be the most important thing a church can strive for, lest we make the same mistake the Israelites made back in the Old Testament times. In Deuteronomy 6:20-25 the Lord tells the Israelites to remember all the wonderful things God had done for them and to TEACH their children so they will never forget. Such an easy task, yet we read in Judges 2:10 that, "All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel." (NASB) Only one generation failed to teach their children about God, and that was all it took for them to turn to wickedness. I do not want to make the same mistake the Israelites made and lose this generation of youth that are so easily influenced by their peers, the media, and society. I want our youth to be able to say they were raised with the fear and respect for God and were taught His laws and commands. This is my passion! I really would like to build relationships with our students in order to help them become what I know they can be. Our youth group can make a major impact in our community and communities around the world. I believe that all our students need to be challenged in their walk with God and they will then rise to the occasion, and amaze us all. It will take the whole church working together to lead our students into the future. I am grateful to God for giving me this opportunity to work with you at OHC in leading the youth toward a deep and meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. |
